BELLEFONTE, CENTRE COUNTY - A new program is recognizing some local emergency service agencies in our region.

The Emergency Medical Services for Children Pediatric Voluntary Recognition program recognizes services throughout the state.

So far, 46 services are involved in the program, five of those are in the Seven Mountains EMS region, including Bellefonte EMS, Centre LifeLink and Pleasant Gap Fire Company.

Officials say over 70,000 children are transported by EMS services in the state and say this program helps ensure the most up-to-date services for them.

The program has four levels of recognition, including basic levels, intermediate, advanced and master.
