Electronics collection to accept Freon-containing appliances

TYRONE, BLAIR COUNTY – The Intermunicipal Relations Committee will accept appliances containing Freon for the first time in several years during their one-day collection.

The multi-material recycling collection will take place Saturday April 5th from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Tyrone High School in Tyrone. Residents will enter the parking lot near the hospital and exit behind the building.

Freon-containing appliances will be accepted for a $5 fee. Appliances not containing Freon will be accepted free of charge. The Centre County Recycling and Refuse Authority will be present to process the Freon.

The IRC will be accepting the following items free of charge:

Electronics

This includes Computers, their accessories, TV's, VCR's, microwaves, curling irons, game systems, printers, fax machines, vacuums, cameras, clocks, radios, laptops, and most anything with a cord!

All types of Boxes
Cereal boxes, shoe boxes, cracker boxes and other similar food packaging, cardboard boxes, poster boards, gift wrap rolls, toilet paper and paper towel rolls.

All types of Books
Paperback books, magazines, Reader's Digest, Hard back books, encyclopedias, dictionaries, and college text books.

Plastic Bags and Film 
Grocery bags, bubble wrap, shrink wrap, and other similar materials will be accepted.
