ALTOONA - It was a packed house Saturday night at the Bavarian Hall in Altoona as one local organization hoped to raise some money for the community.
The Beating the Odds Foundation partnered with the Central Blair Recreation and Park Commission for their annual Community Classic Dinner and Benefit Auction. The man known as the “Real Rocky” former boxer Chuck Wepner was the featured guest speaker.
"It's about the kids in the community. Community being the key word its why we all do it it's why we're all here to raise money for those kids and building parks, providing programs and without events like this we just couldn't do that," Executive Director Mike Hofer says.
WTAJ was a proud of the annual dinner. All of the proceeds benefit the Booker T. Washington Revitalization Prospect Park Project and the CBRC Scholarship fund.
