HERSHEY, DAUPHIN COUNTY – Al Clemens, a member of the Penn State Board of Trustees, resigned during a meeting in Hershey Friday.

Clemens says he regrets his participation in the firing of Joe Paterno and the acceptance of the Freeh Report. Governor Corbett has already announced nominees to replace both Clemens and Ira Lubert, who is also stepping down.

Corbett nominated Cliff Benson and Todd Rucci for the vacancies. Benson is chief development officer with the Buffalo Sabres and helped secure Terry Pegula’s $88 million donation to Penn State. Rucci is a community relations officer with a printing company and previously ran the Pennsylvania Lottery.

Both Benson and Rucci held positions on the board of Second Mile.
