Christmas tradition returns to DuBois decades later

DuBois, Clearfield County, Pa. - The holidays are full of tradition, from Christmas trees to decorations and creating memories that will last a lifetime.

"Christmas has always been a wonderful tradition in my family, says life long DuBois resident Deb Kramer. She remembers going to visit a Santa house in the city as a child.

"The last time I remember a Santa place was on long avenue, probably when i was in elementary school."

This Christmas the Dubois Revitalization Group has decided to bring that tradition back after nearly 60 years. The 12 by 10 ft home started out as a discontinued shed donated from Lowes.

"At one point i was asked if we wanted something on it to say Lowes, but it's really not about that. We're really doing it for the community," says store manager Johnathan Gribble.

Then a group of employees stepped in to start the transformation. However it wasn't an easy undertaking to make sure everything's ready for the big man in red.

"We probably put in a good 40 hours so far," says Kramer.

Friday the house made it's move from the Lowes parking lot- to it's resting place at the city park. Now it's waiting to make memories for the children in town for years to come.

"We want it to be something that goes beyond this year where DuBois can keep using it over and over. We put a little bit of time and effort into it to make sure it lasts," adds Gribble.

The house will receive a few more decorations before Santa makes a trip in from the North Pole. He will make his first appearance at the Dubois' Christmas tree lighting on December 1st at 6 p.m.
