Chester Hill Bridge Restrictions

Clearfield ? On Thursday, June 17, PennDOT will restrict a bridge on Route 53 in Chester Hill, near Philipsburg.

A temporary traffic signal will be in place, requiring motorists to alternate turns across the bridge.

Crews will be working one side at a time on the bridge in order to repair the bridge deck and put a new bridge deck surface in place.

Performing the work one side at a time allows traffic to continue using the bridge with minimal delays. The bridge spans Moshannon Creek on Route 53 in Chester Hill, south of Philipsburg.  PennDOT expects the work to be finished by July 9.

Swank Associated Companies of New Kensington is the contractor on this job. The project is financed with federal funds from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) and is part of a $2.2 million contract to rehabilitate seven bridges in Clearfield and Potter counties.

This project is part of PennDOT?s more than $66 million investment of federal economic recovery funds being spent on 17 transportation projects across the nine counties of District 2.
