Charges filed against Fire Company's treasurer

PHILIPSBURG, CENTRE COUNTY – The treasurer of Reliance Fire Company is facing theft charges after allegedly stealing nearly $15,000 from the group.

Court documents show Ryan Jones wrote 35 checks to himself from the fire company’s checking account, totaling nearly $15,000.

Jones allegedly signed his name and forged another when writing the checks.

The company’s chief says Jones has paid back $3,900 in cash so far, and owes more than $10,000.
