The business started in 1974, and has since grown to service more than 7 million riders in 2013. CATA’s general manager credits hard work and some luck to their success.
“When I arrived, we were approximately half or smaller than half of our present size,” said GM Hugh Mose. “We’ve just had an awful lot of good fortune. I acknowledge first and foremost Penn State. In 1999, we were able to engineer a partnership, which allowed us to provide on campus bus service, which probably increased the size of our program by at least 25 percent, maybe more.”
CATA is planning to raise their fares from $1.50 to $1.75 in July.
