Bystanders tackle robbery suspect

GEISTOWN, CAMBRIA COUNTY – A robbery suspect was arrested Friday afternoon after bystanders tackled and held him until police arrive.

The incident happened around 12:30 p.m. at the Ideal Market in Geistown. Police say the suspect, whose name has not been released, approached the 70-year-old victim from behind when she was at an ATM, grabbed money and took off.

When the victim went after the suspect, he pushed her to the ground. Witnesses tackled the suspect and held him until police arrived.

The victim was taken to an area hospital. Her condition has not been released.
