BEECH CREEK, CLINTON COUNTY - Officials have identified the body they pulled from a local creek, and police are still investigating what happened.

The Clinton County Coroner confirmed it was 17 year old Alex Tylor Witherite's body. But there's still a lot they don't know at this point. State Police say someone found the body near the Beech Creek Veterans Memorial Bridge around 1:30 Thursday afternoon. That's right along Route 150 at the Clinton/Centre County line.

Alex Witherite had been missing for about a month. The coroner performed an autopsy Friday morning. But he's still waiting on toxicology results and some other tests. The State Police out of Lamar are working with the Clinton County Coroner's Office. They're still investigating to find out what happened.

Witherite was a student at the Sugar Valley Rural Charter School. The Chief Executive Officer Logan Coney said, “Everyone here is shocked and devastated.  We've known Alex for a long time.  He will be missed around here."

The school canceled classes for Friday and Monday. They’ll have grief counselors and local ministers if anyone there needs someone to talk to on Tuesday and Wednesday.
