ALTOONA, BLAIR COUNTY - April is National Donate Life Month and Friday night people packed an area restaurant to raise money and awareness.

Kathy Tornatore came out to eat at Family Pizza and Pub to support the CORE program. Her family is very familiar with it. Her son was born with Cystic Fibrosis and a little over a year ago he took a turn for the worse. A double lung transplant saved Kathy’s son's life.

Many of the people at the CORE event have similar stories. Heather Chestney's father was an organ recipient and her mother was an organ donor. Chestney is now a CORE ambassador and helped organize the Blue and Green night at Family Pizza who donated ten percent of the sales to CORE.

Right now there are 121 thousand people on the waiting list for organs. And if you want to sign up to be an organ donor CORE will be at the Altoona Public Library April 22nd.
