Hundreds came together at the St. Rose of Lima in Altoona for a basket raffle for two year old Brielle Harmon. Brielle suffers from Leigh's Disease, a mitochondrial disorder that progresses rapidly, especially in young children. There is currently no cure for the disease, but family and friends of Brielle hope fundraisers like this help change that.
"Brielle is a very special little girl and it's just so hard seeing her struggle and so we just want to make sure she doesn't have to struggle for the rest of her life and other kids like her don't have to struggle," Jenny McCoy says.
Donations from the event went to the United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation.
