HARRISBURG, PA - Pennsylvania moves one step closer to making bath salts illegal.

The state senate has approved a ban on the so-called synthetic drugs.

Chemicals found in bath salts are known to cause hallucinations and a "meth - like" high.

The new ban covers other synthetic drugs designed to mimic the effect of real drugs as well, like k-2 -- or fake weed.

The bill now heads to the state house for its approval.
