An organization helping the homeless in major need of donations

DuBois, Clearfield County, Pa. - The Haven House Shelter is a short term homeless shelter for residents of Clearfield, Elk, and Jefferson County's. There, those who meet the requirements and background checks may stay for 30 days, while they search for employment and a permanent residence. Women, Men, and children are all allowed on site, which is why the group will not allow sex offenders or addicts in the home, according to director Kelli Williams.

The doors of the Haven House, located on East DuBois Ave, first opened in November 2006. Since then, employees say the group has had over 800 people live in the house. Almost all of those people, have left successful, according to President Keith Smith. Each person receives a bed and share a living area. According to Williams, the group  feels more like a family than a number in a traditional shelter.

The organization's mission is to provide a safe, encouraging atmosphere, food, lodging, and guidance for local residents facing homelessness. However, Smith says they are funded one-hundred percent off of donations. The non-profit does not receive any government assistance, according to Smith.

The group will have various fundraisers  throughout the year, including a motorcycle ride on Saturday June 3rd. More information can be found on their facebook page
