CLEARFIELD COUNTY - After a fire destroyed their facility, the Colonial Courtyard in Clearfield is attempting to rebuild.

In a news released they stated:

“Opening the new office is another important milestone as the Colonial Courtyard at Clearfield ‘family’ moves forward with an eye to the future,” said Candy Shomo, Colonial Courtyard at Clearfield executive director. “This location will enable us to provide important updates on construction while also serving our past and future residents.”

The temporary office at 1937 Daisy Street Extension in Clearfield will serve as an informational outlet until construction of a new facility is completed.

“Our team, our residents, their family members and the entire Clearfield community will have an opportunity to see the new office space and learn about the progress being made as far as the new building is concerned,” said Sandy English, director of sales and marketing at Colonial Courtyard at Clearfield. “The demolition is nearly complete. We anticipate that rebuilding will begin in the spring.”

The fire completely destroyed the former building and displaced 60 residents, many of whom intend to return when the new building is finished, Shomo said.

G & R Excavating and Demolition of Tyrone tore down the fire-damaged structure during two phases. The first portion was demolished in October. After testing to determine the quality of the existing slab was completed, the remainder of the original building came down in recent weeks.

Lami Grubb Architects of Pittsburgh is handling the planning and design of the new structure.

The office will remain open throughout the rebuilding project. The Colonial Courtyard at Clearfield staff also will accept deposits from future residents and their families.
