At Homewood at Martinsburg, you'll find outdoor pursuits such as bocce courts and a walking/fitness trail. The outdoor covered pavilion hosts many summer gatherings large and small. Restaurant-style dining, a cafe, meeting rooms, convenience store, chapel and a fitness center with an indoor pool provide hours of activity.

Active, independent adults who want to enjoy life without the hassles of home maintenance.  They have the freedom to spend time doing the things they enjoy and the security knowing that help is always available.

    What are the advantages of living at Homewood at Martinsburg?
Residents at Homewood enjoy freedom to travel and pursue interests without worrying about maintaining their home. They know that Homewood?s staff is there to help ? keeping an eye on things while they are away, caring for a pet, housekeeping, etc.  They have peace of mind knowing that should they need additional care, Homewood has the ability to meet their needs while promoting independence.  Residents have physical and financial security, while still maintaining their independence.  They have the companionship of friends and neighbors of similar age, plus privacy when they want.

    Will I be able to stay active at Homewood at Martinsburg?
Yes, there is a wide variety of events and activities. As one resident said, "We are more active after moving to Homewood than previous years." We have many planned activities and events. Some of the events include strawberry festivals, outdoor concerts and bazaars. Residents participate in card clubs, exercise groups, tours, golf, bowling, bocce, art classes plus many other events. Residents have access to the Community Center including an indoor pool and spa, fitness center, cyber lounge, library, and a wood shop on campus. There are also a large variety of volunteer projects. Privacy and time to oneself is very important also, so one can participate in activities or have as much private time as desired.

    Do I have to pay a large entrance fee to live at Homewood at Martinsburg?
Homewood at Martinsburg offers a rental program in its community.  Residents rent the cottages and apartments on either a monthly basis or by pre-paying 10 years of rent in what is called a life lease. With a life lease contract, your entrance fee depreciates 10 percent each year for a 10-year period. You would receive a refund if you were in the cottage/apartment fewer than 10 years. You would not pay any additional rent should you stay longer than 10 years.  If you rented on a monthly basis, there is no up front entrance fee, but there is also no refund.

    What services are available, if needed, in the independent living apartments or cottages?
Independent living residents in cottages and apartments can receive a number of services including housekeeping, laundry, medication management, transportation, maintenance, and some nursing services.  Residents pay for only the services that they need.

    How many levels of care does Homewood at Martinsburg provide?
Our full-service campus provides: Independent Living cottages and apartments, Assisted Lifestyle Services apartments, 24-hour Skilled Nursing Care, Alzheimer's and Related Dementia care, Short-term Rehabilitation unit, Respite care and Hospice services. A representative can review your needs with the level of care which Homewood at Martinsburg can provide.

    Is Homewood at Martinsburg Medicare and Medicaid certified?
Yes, Homewood at Martinsburg is Medicare and Medicaid certified. Knowledgeable staff members are available to discuss what Medicare or Medicaid will cover and to help with the necessary paper work needed for application.
