British scientists say they've developed a cell phone game that's helping with cancer research. It decodes large volumes of genetic material from breast tumor samples.

Players map a route through an asteroid field which is really the genetic data of more than 2,000 breast cancer patients, looking for patterns in the DNA.

Scientists at Cambridge University then use those routes to hone in on key parts of the genome to understand how cancer cells are growing and going wrong.

They say in early experiments gaming results have been up to 15 percent more accurate than current methods used to analyze data.
