HUNTINGDON - A hospital in our area has won a state award for quality improvement. J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon is being recognized for   decreasing healthcare-associated infections.
The hospital is credited with reducing the number of infections by cutting back on the use of urinary catheters. Use of the catheters will often lead to urinary tract infections that can worsen the patient's condition and prolong hospital stays.

JC Blair staff was presented the award for the most improvement in healthcare-associatied infections among all hospitals in Pennsylvania.

We applaud J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital for its ongoing efforts to reduce catheter-associated urinary tract infections," said Penza Imes, RN, Quality Insights project coordinator.
