Not only supporters of the walk but also the general public are invited to attend the event.Organizers say it's their way of thanking the community for its support , celebrating survivors, and getting their message out.
"Women are our movers and shakers and they're passionate abut staying healthy and finding a cure and the main focus of a lot of that has always been early detection and to get those mamograms on a regular basis," says Lisa Koncz, Blair County Chapter, American Cancer Society.
This year's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walks take place on October in Altoona and October 18 in Bedford. Money raised at the walks goes toward breast cancer research and services to help patients.
