As our bodies age, so do our teeth. Years of chewing and crunching can take a toll. Dentists say it's key to check old dental work, to make sure it's intact, and look for new problems that might still be small. Regular checkups are crucial and choosing a dentist who uses new technology can ease the fear of pain and keep the cost down.
Dentists say how patients care for their teeth at home is also important. Dr. Marc Leichtung recommends using an electric toothbrush. He also advises patients to avoid sugar and for those who grind their teeth while sleeping, wear a night guard.
Dentists recommend brushing your teeth for two full minutes twice a day and flossing.
