The countdown for the Affordable Care Act has started again. If you don't have health insurance, you have until the end of the month to sign up. On March 31st, everyone is required to have signed up for a plan or risk paying a fine.
If you have health coverage through your employer, if you're on Medicare or Medicaid, or if you've already signed up with the ACA, you don't have to worry. Actually, that's eight out of ten Americans.

For the rest, anyone who doesn't have coverage by the end of the month won't be able to get it until November even if they need it, and they could face a fine of $95 or one percent of their income.

At L.R. Webber and Associates in Blair County, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Beckie Beck says, "I don't know that we're going to see people scrambling. There may be some of that but I think  for the most  part, the individuals that really cared and were interested in getting it, have more than likely  done something about it."
Beck says many people would rather pay the fine, especially since some face high premiums and high deductibles under the ACA.
Next year, the IRS will be asking people filing their tax returns for proof they have health insurance. If you owe a fine, it can be with-held from your refund.
