Josh Berrian

Josh joined WTAJ in September 2016 as a Sports Reporter.

Growing up in the Sunshine State in Tallahassee, at a very young age, Josh always had aspirations of a career in television---whether it was acting in movies, performing comedy, or covering sports. As he grew older, so did his love for sports. The high school athlete became infatuated with basketball and college football. After all, he grew up smack dab in the middle of Seminole Country, home of the Florida State University.

He developed a passion for sports journalism as a teenager. Coming home after school to read the sports section of the newspaper while also watching local and national broadcasters on television was enough inspiration for him to consider it as a possible career choice. Josh followed in his mother’s footsteps and became the second generation of his family to attend FSU for undergrad. While there, Josh was actively involved with his university’s radio station as a sports anchor, in digital media with where he produced game recaps for women’s basketball as well as interned at WTXL-ABC27. He is also a proud member of the Iota Delta Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated and the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ).

After graduating, Josh came back to WTXL to begin his professional career where he worked behind the scenes as a technical director and sports videographer. While working with the sports department, he covered a variety of sports from both FSU and Florida A&M University, especially Florida’s “bread and butter” with high school football as he helped with the station’s Friday Night Football show. Josh also got the chance to cover the Seminoles 2016 Garnet and Gold Spring Game in Orlando, FL where he interviewed FSU alums turned NFL and CFL players.

You can find Josh spending most of his free time in the gym working out or jogging around town so he can stay fit. The Florida native bleeds garnet and gold and if he’s not tomahawk chopping, you can find him cheering on his Miami Heat! He loves traveling to new places and is all for new experiences which is why he is elated to call State College and Central PA his new home as your Nittany Nation Reporter! He is excited to cover Penn State Athletics, the Steelers, Pirates, and Penguins, as well as Pennsylvania high school sports.
