Watch the Annual Telethon Live on WTAJ
12pm-6pm at DelGrosso's Amusement Park
WTAJ-TV has teamed with Children's Miracle Network at Geisinger to help make miracles happen for ill and injured children in our region.
Thanks to our generous viewers and Children’s Miracle Network supporters, more than $15 million has been raised for pediatric equipment, programs and services throughout northeastern and central Pennsylvania.
Each spring, we proudly bring you our celebration broadcast, where donors are recognized and viewers have the opportunity to meet “miracle kids” – kids from your communities who have battled through serious medical issues, often with incredible and astounding results.
We hope you will tune in to the annual Celebration broadcast - hosted by your favorite WTAJ personalities on Sunday, June 4th, to learn more about this cause or visit the Janet Weis Children's Hospital website.
"Together, we can help make miracles happen every day."
Wayne Boone, 15, of Julian, was overweight and was having trouble with normal activities. He was unable to walk up a flight of stairs without stopping to catch his breath, and had difficulty with the requirements for his high school physical education class. Wayne asked for help and was referred to Geisinger’s Weigh of Life program at Geisinger Gray’s Woods in State College. The program taught him to eat healthier and increase his activity. The Weigh of Life program was life-changing for Wayne — he lost nearly 40 pounds and became much more fit.
Savannah Rodriguez, 3, of Mill Hall, was born at almost 27 weeks, and after a 2-month stay in the Geisinger Janet Weis Children’s Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) was able to go home with her parents. After being home for a short time, she stopped feeding, was having trouble moving her bowels and became very sick. She was brought back to Geisinger Janet Weis Children’s Hospital and needed emergent surgery to correct a blockage in her bowels. During the surgery, doctors found that Savannah suffered from malrotation, when the bowels flip and twist, cutting off blood flow. She lost a large portion of her intestines and needed intravenous nutrition for a long period of time. Today she is doing very well and is getting all of her nutrients orally.
Donations to Children’s Miracle network at Geisinger have provided lifesaving equipment for the NICU, including ventilators, bed warmers, humidified isolettes and much more.
