Altoona Regional hosted an Earth Day event Tuesday afternoon. Green groups from across the county showed up to pass their message on to the public.
The Southern Alleghenies Conservancy Group was there to talk about the buy local eat local campaign. They showed off all kinds of food that is grown right here in our area.
Organizers say buying local isn't just good for the local economy it's also a healthier option. They say local products are generally fresher because they travel less distance to get to your plate which means the nutritional value is higher.
