Rocky is a three-year-old Spaniel and Ibizan Hound mix. He came to the Clearfield County SPCA from another Greyhound Rescue. When he first transferred to the Clearfield County SPCA, he was extremely obese. He ended up being diagnosed with a thyroid problem, and is now on a treatment regimen that is helping him to slim down. It was also discovered during that appointment, that Rocky is deaf. Shelter staffers are now working with him on hand commands, leash training and toy release. They say he is a “resource guarder”, and will need to go to a home who understands how to work with dogs who have that possessive trait. Fenton says he is a great dog, who is very sweet and loving. He loves to spend time with people, and loves having his belly rubbed. Rocky also enjoys long walks. All in all, he is just a happy dog, and would make a great companion!
The Clearfield County SPCA is also hosting a Calendar Contest starting in February. You have the option of submitting your own photo, or attending one of the photo shoots sponsored by the shelter.
- February 15, 2014: Adrian Fire Hall, Dubois
- February 23, 2014: Clearfield County SPCA
- March 2, 2014: Reliance Fire Hall, Philipsburg
- March 9, 2014: Clearfield County SPCA
All shoots will be from 1:30-4:30 p.m. You’ll get an 8x10 photo, along with a smaller photo that can be attached to a donation bin. The cost for the event is $10, and appointments can be made by calling: (814) 765-2220.
You don’t have to go to a photo shoot in order to participate in the contest. You can also supply one of your own photos. The 12 photos with the highest number of donations will be featured in a calendar to benefit the shelter. The top two earners will also receive t-shirts, and the grand prize winner will be featured on a billboard on Route 322 between Clearfield and Philipsburg.
