Schilling-Knapton Collection of Art

Join the Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art for their latest exhibit, the Schilling-Knapton Collection of Art!

Bernie Schilling’s love for fine art began during his childhood, first admiring the art display in the homes of his parents and grandparents, and the works he saw at museums. He purchased his first piece of art at age 17, and that set off a love of art. Schilling followed his Henry Moore lithograph with addition purchases from Will Barnet, Robert Goodnough, Andre Marchand, Alfred Stieglitz and Jamie Wyeth, providing a glimpse of what would become a massive and diverse collection of art. This exhibit features 200 works by more than 150 artists.

This gallery is on display from Friday, October 20 through Saturday, January 20, 2018 at at the Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art in Lorretto. The gallery is open Tuesday through Friday from 10:00 am until 5:00 pm and Saturdays 1:00 pm until 5:00 pm.
