Barron Whited, an Agora Cyber Charter School Guidance Counselor, shares his tip.

How to Talk to Kids about their School Day

As school is in full swing, parents need to talk with their children about their school day. Sometimes, kids will respond with a one word answer like, "fine" or "good". This can be very frustrating, but there are many benefits from a meaningful dialogue between parents and children. Here are some simple ways to begin this conservation with your child about his or her school day:

1.         Ask Open-ended Questions

2.         Know Student's Classes/Activities

3.         Discuss Homework/Projects

4.         Share One Positive Thing

5.         Encourage A School Journal
